Kindle

The low-priced Kindle (review) is the simplest and cheapest available.

With its well-considered price, touch screen and lighting, it should suit most people without costing you too much money.

The e-reader is also compatible with the "Prime Reading" bookshop, which offers thousands of free ebooks for reading as long as you have an Amazon Prime subscription.

Pocketbook Verse

This Pocketbook Verse e-reader (review) is new for 2023 and features blue-light filtering.

Although the screen is a little thinner than that of the Kindle (presented earlier), this e-reader boasts excellent technical specifications.

It has everything you need for an easy start to digital reading with the Pocketbook Verse.

Full-featured e-readers (top-of-the-range)

Kobo Libra 2

Kobo's flagship e-reader for the end of 2023 is the Kobo Libra 2 (review).

You'll get a 7-inch illuminated touch screen with the latest generation of display technology (good contrast and high resolution). As an added bonus, the e-reader is waterproof and can even read Kobo audio books!

In addition to the lighting, a blue-light filter helps prevent eye strain when reading in the dark.

Its use and total integration with the Kobo ecosystem make it very easy to use.

Of course, the price is a little higher than for other e-readers, but I think it's totally justified.

Kindle Paperwhite

Reviewed on the site, the new Kindle Paperwhite is a success.

Not only does it boast a 6.8-inch screen (compared with only 6 inches for the competition at this price), but it's also waterproof!

If you're looking for a complete, simple and waterproof e-reader, you'll be hard pressed to find anything better for the price.

What's more, if you have a Prime subscription, you'll be able to take advantage of the Prime Reading bookshop, which offers thousands of free ebooks to read.

Pocketbook InkPad 4

Last but not least, it's almost unthinkable not to feature an ereader with a large 7.8" screen in this guide.

Admittedly, this Pocketbook InkPad 4 (review) is a little expensive, but its price is totally justified if you're looking for a very comfortable screen for reading at home.

As an added bonus, you'll get a convincing text-to-speech function that lets you listen to ebooks!

Why give a e-reader for Christmas 2023?

This year, we're in luck, as many new models have been released recently, making it possible to offer a recent e-reader: Pocketbook InkPad 4, Pocketbook Light or Pocketbook Light HD!

We also now have large-format e-readers like the Kobo Libra 2, which is a big hit with its large 7-inch screen, and the new Kindle Paperwhite, which offers a large touch screen with lighting for less than $150.

An e-reader is ideal for people who read a lot, or who want to travel with books without having to carry around a lot of weight and volume.

An average e-reader weighs between 200 and 250 grams, so you can easily slip it into a small bag (or a woman's handbag).

Best of all, ebooks are less expensive than printed ones.

They can also be downloaded directly from the e-reader, so you can have the book at home in two minutes, without having to go to a bookshop.

Finally, if you're already reading on a tablet, an e-reader will be a great comfort, since the screens are designed with electronic ink, so you can read e-books for a long time without tiring your eyes.
