Pocketbook has decided to rapidly launch an evolution of its InkPad large-format color e-reader, the previous version of which is only a few months old. A Pocketbook InkPad Color 3 will therefore be arriving this year, with a major evolution.
5 months ago, Pocketbook announced its Pocketbook InkPad Color 2. A 7.8-inch e-reader, like the Pocketbook InkPad 4 - read the review, but with a Kaleido 2-type color screen.
The Pocketbook InkPad Color 3 is now available on Amazon if you want to buy it:
7.8" e-reader - 1404 x 1872 pixels (greyscale) 702 x 936 pixels (color) e ink screen - Ebook formats supported: EPUB, PDF, FB2, FB2.ZIP, TXT, DJVU, HTM, HTML, DOC, DOCX, RTF, CHM, TCR, PRC (MOBI), JPEG, BMP, PNG, TIFF + audio : M4A, M4B, OGG, OGG.ZIP, MP3, MP3.ZIP
Pocketbook has released the Pocketbook Inkpad Color 3, which this time features an upgraded Kaleido 3 screen for improved color display over the previous version.
While this new e-reader is good news for fans of color e-ink e-readers, it's also a bit of a disappointment for those who bought the version 2 released a few months ago.
I feel that Pocketbook could have waited a few months longer to directly release this large-format e-reader with its E Ink Kaleido 3 screen...
Especially since the evolution is clearly significant, with a 50% higher resolution and better contrast with more vivid colors for the InkPad 3.
There's also a SmartLight function for illuminating the e-reader screen, and a dark mode.
The e-reader is also waterproof (IPX8) and has a Bluetooth connection as well as a small speaker for listening to audio books and text-to-speech.
In short, this Pocketbook InkPad Color 3 is a Pocketbook InkPad 4 with a color screen.
Here are the technical specifications of the Pocketbook InkPad Color 3:
There's no indication whether version 2 of this e-reader will remain in the Pocketbook catalog.
This Pocketbook InkPad Color 3 has the same price as the old version (which is a little cheaper on Amazon), since it features a better color screen.
It is interesting to offer both models for sale, with the InkPad Color 2 more affordable than the InkPad Color 3.
