Honestly, I already have a Clara 2E I bought last year. Nothing wrong with it at all…except the responsiveness is on the slower side. I find myself accidentally highlighting things when trying to turn the page constantly, slight delays, etc. The new colour device was intriguing to me for the color and extra speed. There are some differences in the quality of build that I appreciate more in the 2E —both use recycled materials but these newer models feel more light & plastic-y lending to a more “cheap” quality feel. Then there is the big difference between the kaleidoscope screen of the colour vs 2E where you have the extra filter on the screen for color so you’re lacking the brightness and sharpness of the good old Carta. Not to say the colour can’t be bright or sharpe but it takes more effort to get the settings just right.
Overall, I think it’s a great device for a colour ereader especially for the size and price point. However, unless you’re doing a lot of reading that involves color (comics, manga, highlighting), go with the 2E or newer BW Clara for better responsiveness & sharper, brighter display.
